Shop Local: Cowtown Father’s Day Gift Guide

0

Father’s Day is June 15, and we’ve combed Cowtown to find unique gifts and experiences to celebrate Dad. No matter Dad’s interests or your price range, you’re bound to find the just the right gift from our collection of local businesses and products.

To Unwrap:

Uncommon Angles

photo 3For the man who has everything (and makes shopping for him an utter test of courage and patience), Uncommon Angles is sweet relief. Featuring handcrafted items from artists near and far, this West 7th area shop is a feast for the eyes. Among the possibilities for Dad: Graphite Objects from Angelo Batle are sculptures that write (!) and Mitkutowski Woodworkings has a beautiful collection of boxes with inspirational quotes. Other finds for Dad include beautiful business card holders, paperweights, pocket knives, and martini glasses.

W Durable Goods

Traveling Dads will appreciate W Durable Goods’ gorgeous hand-stitched travel gear and leather goods made right here in Fort Worth. For those looking for an investment piece, the Model A Briefcase or Duffel Bag are perfect. Starting a bit smaller? Pair up the business card case with a key fob or give Dad a Dopp Kit to hold toiletries on the go.

Legendary Locals of Fort Worth

Wrare

If you’ve never been to Wrare before, welcome to your new addiction. Seriously, this is the kind of place where you will fight to urge to yell, “I will have one of everything . . . maybe two!” Wrare carries the giftware standards: candles, cards, inspirational signs and the like, but with a twist. Finds for Dad include these sweet aluminum letters for $6.00 a piece. Grab an initial for all of the kids (I did A and C for my little ladies), spell out your last name, and just do a romantic pairing of names for a mom-to-dad gift. Also worth mentioning are the sassy pieces of dinner and drinkware with snarky anecdotes that I shall not repeat here, but will make you giggle as you browse.

Dee Jay’s Candlesphoto 2 (1)

Looking for a win-win gift? Look no further than Dee Jay’s Candles where you will find Poo-Pourri. Stay with me here, friends, because the magic in this little bottle is the answer to your smelly bathroom prayers. Spritz into the bowl before you go and voila, no one will know you – or he – went. Aside from this little miracle, Dee Jay’s Candles has a variety of delicious and masculine candle scents like Cool Citrus Basil, Morning Dew, and Stress Relief.

To Nosh:

Teresa’s Treasures

A past winner of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, Teresa’s Treasures offers a variety of themed gift baskets for every interest and every price range. Favorites for Dad include the Strikeout Basket and Golfer’s Delight, both filled with snacks for the game and the cart. Be sure to check out the Texas Chili Pot as well. This large stock pot is teeming with everything Dad needs for a decadent batch of chili.

The grill is to Father’s Day as brunch is to Mother’s Day. Load up your grill with the best beef in town from Burgundy Pasture Beef. Dad will appreciate the selection of grass-fed beef and free range chicken from local farms available from this family owned and operated business. Order online and pick-up in the market on West 7th or just swing by and choose between fresh and frozen offerings. Gift certificates are available, but we like the idea of grabbing an insulated tote and wrapping a few steaks up for Dad to find in the fridge.

To Sip:

Times Ten Cellars

Tucked away on Foch Street, Times Ten Cellars offers several options for the wine lover who wants to sip locally including all varieties of red and white wines, sangria, and bubbles. Stop in to this full-production winery and grab a few bottles to go or take a seat in a comfortable chair and sip a glass in the tasting room while nibbling on a plate of artisan meats and cheeses. If you’re not sure about Dad’s favorite wine, Times Ten’s knowledgeable staff offers group and individual tastings as well as gift certificates.

Revolver Brewing

Start the Father’s Day celebration early by taking a trip down to Grandbury, Texas to Ron and Rhett Keisler’s Revolver Brewing. Featuring brews made from their own Trinity Aquifer well and seasonal local ingredients, Revolver offers tours of the brewery every Saturday from 12-3 p.m. Your $10 admission includes the tour, a logo pint glass, beer tasting for guests 21 and older, and live music. Tours are family friendly.

To Do:

EnduraLab

photo 1 (1)Husband and wife team Lee and Isis Hargrave’s EduraLab will help Dadletes of all levels accomplish their fitness goals safely with focus on edurance, strength, and overall conditioning. Great gifts for athletic Dads (or those who aspire to be) include the one-on-one running form session where Dad will work with a coach to analyze his form and address inefficiencies or the 10-class pack which will allow Dad to check out all of the different strength, running, and rowing classes that EnduraLab offers.

Fort Worth Running Company

Help Dad prevent injury and find comfort during his athletic endeavors by treating him to Find Your Fit session at Fort Worth Running Company. Father and son owners James and Jim Newsom and staff will use video analysis to identify the right and best shoes for Dad along with the latest in athletic gear to burn up the trails along the River.

Fort Worth Golf

Can’t find Dad on Saturday morning? Chances are that he’s escaped to the golf course (and that you will now man the fort for hours on end until he gets back). Private lessons from Fort Worth Golf’s team of PGA member instructors and apprentices on the four municipal courses will help Dad improve his game and shorten the time that he’s on the course.

Fort Worth Cats

The Texas Rangers are out of town on Father’s Day, but there is still local baseball to enjoy thanks to the Fort Worth Cats. On Sundays, all seats at LaGrave Field are just $5 and as a special Father’s Day event, all Dads can play catch with their kids on the field before the game. Round up the crew and head out early to do a little tailgating before the game or grab lunch at one the many restaurants nearby.

We’re excited by our haul, but we’d love to hear from you; what’s on your gift list for Father’s Day?

Ali is proud to be Mama to sweet Alexis (2003) and little diva Clara (2005) who make every day an adventure with their wisecracking ways and endless antics.
