NonProfit-Profile-imageToday marks the seventh annual North Texas Day of Giving. North Texas Giving Day is an online event that takes place from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., where anyone with a credit card and internet access may make a donation to more than 2,100 non-profit organizations located in North Texas. You can check out their website to find an organization you are passionate about and make a donation! Or check out one of these programs that are near and dear to the FWMB. Also, don’t forget to check out our lists from 2014 and 2013.

1. The Boys and Girls Club of Arlington – The Boys and Girls Club of Arlington provides more than 5,000 children, who primarily come from single-parent, low-income households, with programs and services dedicated to five different areas: character and leadership development; education and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness, and recreation. Click here to donate.

2. A Wish with Wings – A Wish with Wings is the only wish granting organization in the state of Texas that is exclusively for children. With more than 1,300 wishes granted to children facing life-threatening illnesses since 1982, a Wish with Wings primary goal is to make sure that each child’s wish is a truly special experience, and that no child’s wish is left unfulfilled due to lack of funding. 3. Gill Children’s Services – After the passing of Mr. A. Smith Gill, his $1 million estate was used to set up Gill Children’s Services, a source of last resort funding for needy Tarrant County children. This includes providing assistance for medical, dental, physical, social, psychological, and educational needs that have not been met by other community resources. Its hope is to be a strong safety net, catching the children that would have otherwise fallen through the cracks. Last year alone, Gill provided nearly $440,000 in critical services to 1,673 Tarrant County children. Click here to donate.

4. Tarrant Area Food Bank – In Tarrant County, 1 of 4 children is hungry or at risk of hunger. They live in households that don’t always have the resources to provide sufficient nutritious food for the development of healthy minds and bodies. In the 13 counties of the greater Fort Worth region served by the Tarrant Area Food Bank, more than 208,000 children are food insecure. As a private nonprofit, TAFB collects and distributes more than 2 million meals worth of donated food each month to charities serving hungry families in Fort Worth and 13 surrounding counties. Click here to donate.

5. The Northeast Texas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for all living with CF, as well as advocating and raising awareness about CF. This foundation is especially loved by the FWMB and contributor Joanna who says it is “a connector, a provider of powerful information, an encourager, and just an awesome resource for those of us in the fight!” Click here to donate.
