Welcome to May, the creme filling in your spring-to-summer sandwich cookie. There are plenty of sweets and treats to be had this month. Beauty and the Beast Jr — Times vary daily. // Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic at Casa Manana. The story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self!

May 4 – 6

Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center — 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. // Star Wars fans of all ages can channel their inner Jedi with a LEGO® Star Wars-themed build and a large-scale, six-foot-tall LEGO Yoda group build. Don’t forget to dress as your favorite character while exploring the ultimate LEGO Star Wars galaxy of fun.

May 11

Friday on the Green — 6:00 p.m. – 1o:00 p.m. // Enjoy an evening of free live music just off of bustling Magnolia Avenue. Bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, bubbles, beach balls, fur babies, and kids of all ages. Just don’t bring food or drink. Instead, support the excellent food trucks and other vendors who make this fun, free event possible!

May 12

Buffalo Boogie Run — 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. // Participate in the annual run hosted by Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge and raise funds to preserve and protect the refuge for future generations. Proceeds from the event will allow the Friends of the Fort Worth Nature Center to continue to preserve the refuge.

Mother’s Day High Tea — 2:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. // Treat the moms in your life to a scenic outdoor tea including finger sandwiches, pastries, treats, and live harp music in the historic Rose Garden of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

North Texas Vegan Potluck & Picnic — 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. // Vegans gather from from all over Fort Worth and Tarrant County for food and fun in a central location on Lake Grapevine! Register for the event, sign up for a vegan dish, and come ready to enjoy vegan burgers and hot dogs and a whole lot of family-friendly fun.

Women of Distinction Fort Worth — 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. // The Girl Scouts annual Women of Distinction program brings together and recognizes a group of purpose-driven leaders in business, government and philanthropy — who, like our girls, are dedicated to service and leadership.

May 18

Beastro — 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. // Enjoy the Fort Worth Zoo’s annual music and tasting event and support the zoo’s local and international wildlife conservation and education efforts. Sample area restaurants and open bars stationed throughout the zoo, enjoy live music and some animal exhibits until sunset.

May 19

Laps for Charity — 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. // Experience the thrill of driving your personal vehicle around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway oval, all to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities. After you take your laps, you can celebrate with a picture taken in Victory Lane.

72nd Fort Worth Invitational — Times vary daily. // See the iconic 2018 PGA Tour event held at Colonial Country Club.

May 25 – 27

Swan Lake — Times vary daily. // Come be mesmerized by the timeless tale of romance and evil, performed by the Texas Ballet Theater at the Bass Performance Hall.

May 25 – 28

Dallas Arboretum Memorial Day Weekend — 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. // Enjoy live music every day of this long weekend, plus free entrance for active and retired military and armed forces, face painting, a petting zoo, $2 hot dogs and root beer floats, and more.
