If y’all are like us here at the Fort Worth Moms Blog (FWMB) — moms of both big and little ones — you probably do plenty of research and budget-searching before committing to a new “thing.” Swim lessons, summer camp, dance, sports, etc., all add up in terms of time and money. And as gatekeeper of many of these things, we parents have to make informed decisions and set boundaries on family time and finances.

So if you’ve ever found yourself scratching your head and wondering if — or why — you should sign up your kid for music lessons, let us share some insight with you.

Bringing Families Together Through Music Lessons

We teamed up with Creative Soul Music School in our search to answer the question of whether kids should take music lessons, and we’ve got to tell you: The instructors get it. Music lessons accommodate the student — musical interest and learning needs — to cultivate a lifelong skill. Creative Soul teachers offer individually tailored lessons during flexible morning-to-evening hours, six days per week, at three convenient Tarrant County locations — Fort Worth, Southlake, and Keller. So, you can be sure to find an option that works for your family’s busy schedule.

It’s all part of the “Bringing Families Together Through Music Lessons” mission statement. Since 2006, Creative Soul has built a music community where student musicians can have fun learning, while instructors instill confidence, discipline, and recognition. Your aspiring musician of any age will be given the tools to realize his or her potential for vocal and instrumental skill. Choose from acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, horns, violin and ukelele, songwriting, bands, and ensembles.

Climbing the Musical Ladder System

There is a good reason Creative Soul’s Musical Ladder sounds like some kind of board game. Kiddos earn trophies and colored wristbands for specific levels of personal achievement and for passing musical tests. How fun is that?! Imagine the self-confidence your budding musician will gain when — through diligent practice encouraged by one of more than 50 teachers — he or she reaches personalized goals and earns rewards!

All of that hard work pays out in several performance opportunities through Creative Soul. Each facility is equipped with a full stage setup for on-location performances. Twice a year, students are invited to optional, free (yes . . . FREE) recitals to showcase their efforts. Did we mention one of these recitals takes place Bass Performance Hall? Creative Soul also offers students the opportunity to perform at other local venues through the student band program (more on that below).

Setting the Bar High

These classic elements of regular music lessons — in-class training, at-home practice, and formal recital — support not only your investment in your child, but also Creative Soul’s goal to instill confidence in students. The music class environment is where each student’s unique talents and goals are recognized and supported. Creative Soul’s programs expose kiddos to a variety of musical genres in a classroom environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and relationship-building.

Check out the extensive offering of programs with tuition starting at $100 per month and no long-term contract required. Small classroom settings are ideal for kiddos up to three years old to learn (and play!) rhythmically. Weekly classes for kids aged four through six teach basic elements of music and performance skills. Move your music enthusiast on up to private lessons, or give your budding rockstar a chance to learn in a band format. The latter is ideal for beginners to hone skill with a particular instrument, work together with peers, and apply all those lessons learned from a private instructor.

No matter your child’s age or skill level, or your family’s schedule or financial situation, you are sure to find an option and a price point to fit your needs!

Creative Soul Music School offers music lessons to all ages in Fort Worth, Southlake, and Keller — for guitar, piano, voice, drums, rock bands, and more! Three locations include almost 50 amazing instructors, having served 7,500 students and counting. Check out Creative Soul on Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
