Family-friendly events in Fort Worth this November.We’re in the holiday homestretch for the year 2020! We’re excited to share another month of fun-filled virtual and in-person local events that you and your family can attend.

We’d like to give a BIG shout out to our local business friends as they have navigated so many changes the past few months and come up with some really creative ways to bring us together while following the required health protocols. We see you, business owners, and are giving a standing applause to you and your hard work!

Virtual Story Times // North Richland Hills Library hosts virtual story times every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. on its Facebook page. After the reading, the video will be available on its YouTube channel and the library’s website

Yogin’s Karma Bookclub // Karma Yoga in Denton is starting a free community yoga bookclub to learn more about the practice of yoga and how to transform our lives off the mat and see how the words impact not only us but our fellow yogis. Learn more HERE.

KERA At-Home Learning // At kera.org/learn, parents, teachers, and caregivers will find services they can use to “turn every home into a classroom.” They’ll also find an educational TV schedule, digital media collections, and curated tips and tools for teachers.

Museum and Zoo Virtual Tours // Scroll through this list of iconic museums and zoos around the world, and take a tour without leaving your home!

Virtual Nurturing Parent Group // Hosted by My Health My Resources of Tarrant County, the virtual nurturing parent group is “a family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to other forms of parenting and child-rearing practices. This is a great group for any and all parents wanting to learn about parenting for any child.” Meetings happen every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Learn more here.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame // Need activities to keep your young cowgirls and cowboys busy? Take advantage of this free online resources and activities!

Royally Fun Parties // Book an online party to connect a birthday girl with her friends and her favorite character, or have a princess give your little one a call to brighten her day! Virtual services include phone calls, video calls, video messages, and virtual parties. 

Storyline Online // Storyline Online streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White, and dozens more. Visit Storyline Online for more information.  

The Kimbell Art Museum’s Kimbell At Home program // Experience the Kimbell from Home. Explore the collection, download family art activities, and take an audio tour.

Virtual Wednesday Walks // Join the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge for a virtual walk on the trails. Every Wednesday, it will pick a trail, hike, and see what is along the trail in the form of plants and animals. This is a great way to catch up and for you to see what is available on the trails. It will continue these virtual walks while it is closed for the public. Hike starts at 10:00 a.m. and the end time is not definitive. Typical hike will be an hour at the most. Fort Worth Zoo Fall 2020 Homeschool Days // During the fall, the zoo will offer several reduced-priced days for homeschool families. It will not offer special events in the zoo at this time for the safety of our guests and staff.

November 1 – 14 {In-person}

Cutting Edge Haunted House 2020 // Cutting Edge Haunted House is an intense, multi-story, multi-themed haunted attraction that is widely considered to be one of the best Haunted Houses in the nation, full of chilling detail and unbelievable scares!

November 6 – 27 {Virtual}

Discovery Club with Fort Worth Public Library // Every Friday in November, The Nature Center and Fort Worth Public Library are collaborating for a program called, “Discovery Club.” The virtual program will begin with the library and a song, story time, or puppet show regarding our topic of the week. The Nature Center will then share a natural history lesson. Program geared for young students.

November 7 & 8 {In-person}

Fall Japanese Festival // The annual Fall Japanese Festival at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden will feature beautiful foliage, food trucks, concessions, and entertainment. Attendees must reserve tickets in advance online. General garden admission applies. 

November 11 {In-person}

Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade // At 11:00 a.m. in downtown Fort Worth, watch the annual Veterans Day Parade. This year’s Fort Worth parade will salute the Disabled Veterans of America and honor injured and ill veterans and their families. Dennis Nixon, the former national commander of the Disabled American Veterans organization will serve as grand marshal.

November 14 {In-person}

Mimosa Run Fort Worth // Mimosa Run 2020 benefiting Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas with great bubbles and tasty brunch by HG Sply Co.! Finishing your four-mile run or two-mile social, you will be greeted the way everyone deserves to be greeted at the end of the run — with mimosas, brunch, and some finisher swag!

November 15 {In-person}

Pizza Fest Fort Worth 2020 // Celebrate pizza in Fort Worth at this delicious festival! The event will feature a pizza truck block party, pizza eating contest, kids bounce house, live shows and performances, a wine and beer garden, and more. Tickets required and do not include pizza — price per slice varies by vendor. 

November 21 {In-person}

Restoration Centers Annual Free Thanksgiving Turkey Baskets // Restoration will be hosting its annual Free Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Baskets to the Las Vegas Trail Community. This event will be a drive thru or walk up pick up event. There is no need to sign up.

November 21 & 22 {In-person}

Funky Finds Holiday Shopping // Shop more than 150 makers and pickers selling the best handmade, repurposed, upcycled, and vintage finds. This family and pet-friendly event will be held in the Cattle 1 Bldg. & Exhibits Bldg. at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The event will have no direct sales or mass-produced goods. Admission is FREE, parking fee is $10 per day. The event features swag bags, charitable raffle, fundraising benefiting the Humane Society of North Texas and DFW Toys for Tots, and much more!

November 22 {In-person & Virtual}

GM Financial Parade of Lights // The Parade of Lights will be held for the 38th year in Downtown Fort Worth. This year’s “Hope and Joy for the Holidays”-themed parade will look quite different due to the pandemic, taking place inside the Fort Worth Convention Center in front of a virtual audience, and broadcast locally and on the Parade of Lights’ Facebook page.

November 22 – 24 {In-person}

The Riding Academy at Benbrook Stables // Children (ages eight to 15) will have the unique opportunity to learn everything there is to know about a horse and rapidly develop riding skills in just a few short days! Kids will start the day feeding, grooming, and getting the horses tacked up before heading out to the trails and spending the day in the arena before finishing up just in time for lunch at noon.

Downtown Showcase of Floats // The magic of the 2020 GM Financial Fort Worth Parade of Lights broadcast continues with the Downtown Showcase of Floats! Following the parade broadcast on November 22, come see the signature floats displayed along Main Street in Downtown Fort Worth on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. See the floats closer than ever before, take socially distanced photos, enjoy festive music, and experience all that downtown has to offer!
