2021 Guide to Story Times

1

Are you looking for free, climate-controlled, kid-friendly entertainment? Look no further! Taking children to story times is priceless for several reasons:

  • Texas-proof! No need to worry about rain, heat, cold, or — maybe someday — snow.
  • Just show up! Besides picking a location and time, there is very little commitment. No pressure to get your money’s worth. Kiddo having a bad day? No problem! Come late or leave early and try again next time.
  • Socialization for all! If you happen to find a spot you really like, you will probably notice many of the same attendees each time. This is a great opportunity to build organic friendships!
  • More than just a story! Many of the story times include activities and/or crafts.
  • Summer reading programs! Check at your favorite library or bookstore to find out specific details. Readers (from preschool to adult) can earn rewards just for reading. Many times local businesses have donated freebies ranging from water park passes to free meals as prizes.
  • Build your child’s brain! Reading to children of all ages is incredibly beneficial. It improves language skills, increases spans of concentration, encourages them to use their imagination, and so much more.
