Yes, you can get real Christmas trees from big box hardware stores, but the ambiance leaves a little something to be desired. If you want a Christmas tree experience, consider one of the options on this list!

Note: Tree inventories dwindle as we get closer to Christmas. Call ahead for a status report if you’re heading to a farm after the first two weekends in December.

Fossil Creek Tree Farm is family-owned and conveniently located in north Fort Worth. Freshly cut pine trees fill the greenhouses beneath twinkling lights — it’s a magical experience!

Cut your own or choose a pre-cut tree from North Carolina. Note: If you’re planning to cut your own, be sure to show up opening weekend — they go fast! This spot also has lots of fun activities for kids: bounce house, climbing wall, farm zoo, chicken races, and more.

Mainstay Farm Park | Cleburne

Think of this as a holiday amusement park where you can also cut your own Christmas tree. See the link for a list of all the fun activities (seriously, there are so many) and a great FAQ page. Entry tickets from $16.95; kids two and under are free.

Haynie’s Green Acres | Crowley

The fields are closed for 2022 due this year’s drought, BUT you can still find a nice selection of pre-cut firs and flocked trees, including color flocking. Santa will be visiting a few times this season — more details to come at the link.

Optimist Club Christmas Trees | Fort Worth
November 25 until sold out

Not a farm, but a great cause! Support the youth of Fort Worth and pick out the perfect Christmas tree from the Optimist Club at Farrington Field. You’ll find details on this annual holiday fundraiser (50 years strong) at the link.

The Lazy K | Godley
2022 dates TBA

The Lazy K is a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm that offers a few varieties of pine and cypress, including Leyland cypress, a great option for allergy-sufferers who still want a real tree.

4D Farm | Weatherford
November 26 until sold out

Cut your own Christmas tree (or have them cut it for you) or choose from the pre-cut selections. In addition to trees, you can go on a hayride, play farm games, eat homemade cookies, and sip on hot cocoa and apple cider.
