Born and raised in Fort Worth, Catherine is the mother of three amazing kids - ages 12, 10, and 7. She married her high school sweetheart, and they are both currently attending UTA to obtain their bachelor degrees. When they get downtime as a family, they enjoy movie and game nights.
I have forced myself to smile when I didn’t want to, and I have even told my daughters to smile in public if they were sad. The wording on this mask opened a conversation that I didn’t realize needed to happen.
As a parent, you want to protect your child at all costs, and therein lies the heartache. Because as much as I want my teens to grow up to be admirable members of society, I must learn to grant them some privacy and allow them to be themselves.
As parents, we want to think our child is immune to these types of thoughts but sometimes the best thing you can do is just let him or her know you are there to talk about it, and that it's okay to ask for help.
