Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

For me, the sex talk was much more than talking about what changes to expect when puberty hits, and the technical aspects of sex, although that was definitely part of it. I also wanted my boys to have no doubt in their minds what the definition of consensual sex is, and for them to understand all of the emotional, physical, social, and legal consequences of intimacy.

Your go-to guide of Fort Worth Moms Blog posts about all things related to going back to school -- whether for your little ones or for yourself.

I prayed prayers of surrender and took deep breaths and chose gratitude that my little boy had become a young man who was pressing toward the next chapter.
No matter what your situation is, formal preschool is most likely different from wherever your child has been spending his or her time in the past. And that's scary -- for you and your child. So here are a few dos and don'ts collected from veteran preschool teachers!
I am the mom who carefully double checks the packing list for summer camp. Mentally, I found myself considering this first year like an extended summer camp, except that no packing list came with the college acceptance letter.
Don't get me wrong, our kids help out around the house a lot -- and do a fair bit for their ages -- but learning NEW skills and chores takes time, energy, and patience that neither children nor adults have left at the end of a school day. Enter summer: a break from the routine and some wiggle room for time is just what we need to allow a LOT of learning this summer.
