Fashion + Beauty

It’s easy — too easy — for a mother to neglect her self-care when it comes to beauty and fashion. Let this fashion + beauty category be a place where you can stay in touch with other local mamas about clothes, beauty products, and other related topics.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

No longer does slimming down or looking and feeling a few years younger require surgery. Today, many concerns can be addressed with non-surgical alternatives. But with so many options, it can be hard to keep up with the latest ways to look your best.
Buying clothing and shoes second-hand takes some practice. It's easy to get overwhelmed or feel like you are not getting high quality items. I promise you, with a little practice and direction, you can walk away with some treasures and still clothe your children (your husband, and yourself) with pride.
Don't we all want to be comfortable in our own skin? But doesn't it feel like such a struggle? I can't imagine many of us will reach a point where we're never uncomfortable with some detail about our bodies, but I think we can get closer. As a great start, let's stop disparaging physical signs of aging that we see around us.

Curly Hair, Don’t Care

After spending the last year in counseling for postpartum depression, my heart and mind have unraveled in ways that, while painful, have liberated me. I am learning to love myself in all of the undone-ness of being human -- it only seems natural that my hair should follow suit. One Google search three months ago sent me down a rabbit hole of new information. Women who had fought their hair for years were embracing their curls! Support groups and product methods, strange acronyms and rules, flooded my browser tabs. Pages and pages of before-and-after pictures convinced me, and I dove hair-first into the curly girl method.
Occasionally I scroll through Pinterest or Instagram to see what the cool kids are wearing. And here's what I am discovering: I will never be one of the cool kids. Maybe I never was. It's hard to tell. But just beyond the thousands of "I need Jesus and coffee" shirts on Instagram, there is a whole world of fashion/looking good/beauty tips that I don't understand.
Hey girl, are you tired of that boring ponytail? Do you need to spruce up your look, but find curling irons and wands intimidating and time-consuming? Consider this my gift to you: FIVE looks that seriously take FIVE minutes (or less). Some involve a curling iron and some bobby pins, but I promise you CAN do this! Now that I have perfected these looks, I feel confident that once my mop is dry (which takes a while), I can finish my look in about five minutes -- depending on how many fights I have break up and snacks I have to make in the process.
Though it is non-invasive, it is still a medical procedure, and who performs CoolSculpting matters in how effective the procedure is and how your results will look. If you are considering CoolSculpting in Fort Worth, there are some things you should know about who is qualified to perform it, and why it pays to choose a highly experienced medical professional.
