For more than 10 years I've been working professionally to help people who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Now, as a parent, I find myself considering how I'll talk to my son about these substances in an effective way. It's scary and intimidating, even for me! Even more important, you can help them develop skills to make healthy choices, even in the face of peer pressure.

We did what we knew and tried to be patient, consistent, and loving. Before long, it was abundantly clear that he needed more . . . much more.
