Relationships

Ah, relationships: both the bitter and sweet of life, am I right? The category of Relationships features articles to guide you through every relationship of life — the difficult and delightful  — as well as how to navigate relationships with in-laws, grandparents, friendships, marriage, ex-spouses, kids, teens, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every blog post published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular post or collection of posts represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

While in an ideal world these groups of children would get along and become good friends, that's just not how it works. Classmates don't have to be friends anymore than adults have to be friends with a coworker or someone at church.
Where we lay our heads to rest at night says nothing about the state of our relationship. The truth is, we are compatible in just about every single way during waking hours, but in sleep? We are 100 percent incompatible. Polar opposites, and NOT the kind that attract.
My number one tip: When you hit a problem, remember that it's partner one and partner two united against the problem, not partner one against partner two.
Ever since I had kids, it's been a real challenge to make time for my friends. It's probably a combination of being an introverted mom and a work-outside-the-home mom (and maybe just a touch of laziness), but I realized...
Remembering to send “our milk” (grass-fed, non homogenized, DUH!) along with all the things my little minions needed for an overnight at the grandparents' house was just enough to make me want to pull my hair out.
There are times when our union is far from glamorous, when we realize we haven't kissed good-bye all week. There are Saturday afternoons spent watching reruns of Criminal Minds in contented silence.
If you are a stay-at-home parent, I commend you and honor what you are doing for your family. If you work inside or outside of the home, I honor what you are doing for your babies as well. I was surprised when I returned to work that it fits my family as well as it does. My advice to any mother is to follow what brings your heart peace and your family joy. You might be surprised where it leads you.
