Relationships

Ah, relationships: both the bitter and sweet of life, am I right? The category of Relationships features articles to guide you through every relationship of life — the difficult and delightful  — as well as how to navigate relationships with in-laws, grandparents, friendships, marriage, ex-spouses, kids, teens, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every blog post published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular post or collection of posts represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

I love my mother-in-law dearly. She raised my husband, and he's the man I love — and I love and thank her for that. But, there are a few things I wish I could tell her and wish she knew. Some good, some not so good. (Am I the only one?)
As the years go by and the feelings settle in, I’ve found contentment in the familiarity and stability born from the mundane that comes after the sparks fly.

To My Mama Tribe

There are no greeting cards to say more eloquently how much I appreciate you. There is no holiday or amount on a gift card that would be great enough to show my gratitude to you. I love that you have my back, and you know I have yours. You make my life as it is possible, and I am forever grateful.

My Grandparents’ Legacies

0
When I think of my grandparents' lives, I'm amazed at all their resilience, toughness, and lack of bitterness. I also see how easy I have had it and how blessed I am to learn from them and be loved by them.
Of course, I want my kids, AND MYSELF, to be kind to everyone, but at some point we should also take responsibility for the ways we can help others want to include us. Here’s some of the big issues I’ve noticed that I am trying to help my kiddos work on so that others are more open to including them.
There are many ways you can help a mom whose spouse/partner travels for work. They don't have to be anything outlandish, but know that whatever you do is appreciated more than you'll ever know. Many of these moms (including me!) get into their own routine and are too proud to ask for help, so sometimes you might be met with pushback, but don't let that stop you from trying.
If you are a stay-at-home parent, I commend you and honor what you are doing for your family. If you work inside or outside of the home, I honor what you are doing for your babies as well. I was surprised when I returned to work that it fits my family as well as it does. My advice to any mother is to follow what brings your heart peace and your family joy. You might be surprised where it leads you.
