Drive-In Fireworks Independence Day Celebration

July 2 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

| Free

A drive-in fireworks show will be booming at Brookhaven College for the Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 2 from 7:30 until 10:00 p.m. This event is traditionally a summertime party at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. However, it has been relocated to the campus for 2020 to create a safe and fun environment for attendees. Admission is free and access to parking spots available on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

The Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration is known for having one of the best low-level fireworks show within North Texas. Relocating out of the park is an exciting opportunity to make the fireworks bigger and brighter. Low-level fireworks are typically below 200 feet, begin the display at the ground, and then rise. High-level fireworks include aerial shells that can range all the way up to 1500 feet. You’re going to see and hear the difference. A test shell is scheduled to be fired at 9:15 p.m. so that you can adjust your viewing angle for the best show of the night!

Want to bring a cooler with food and non-alcoholic beverages? Go ahead and pack up the snacks you love and enjoy them throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to come prepared because there won’t be any food trucks or concessions sold at the celebration this year. Remember to bring a discard bag so your family or crew can tie up your trash at the end of the evening. Refrain from bringing any glass items that could break in the parking lot. Please take your trash with you and dispose of it at home to limit person-to-person contact and potential spreading of germs.

The main entrance gate opens at 7:30 p.m. and every other parking space will be coned off to allow social distancing between vehicles. Parking attendants will direct each driver to a specific parking lot upon arrival. Guests may exit their cars ad set out chairs in the open areas adjacent to their vehicle.

In the interest of public safety, this show and site layout is designed to accommodate attendees who are arriving in their vehicles. Guests are not permitted to save a spot for another driver and advance reservations are not offered. Pedestrian and walk-in viewing is not allowed at Brookhaven College Campus.

Unless there is an emergency, stay in their parking space until the end of the show. In the event you need to leave unexpectedly, you may exit the parking lot via the designated exits. Re-entry is permitted as long as there are available parking spaces, however, your original spot cannot be guaranteed.

A limited number of restrooms will be available for use, and guests who need to use the facilities must follow social distancing restrictions and instructional signs. Restroom is limited to one adult at a time and small children may be accompanied by an adult. ADA restrooms are available as well as additional hand-sanitizing stations. Please look for the blue/white banners indicating restroom locations.

This is a drive-in celebration similar to tailgating but there are a few rules required to keep everyone safe within their areas. Please do not bring yard games, frisbees, pop-up tents, outdoor grills, skateboards, bicycles, or hazardous materials. Smoking is permitted in your vehicle only. Service dogs are allowed but all pets and animals should be left at home so that they do not experience the loud sounds of the fireworks.

Safety is priority and in the event of inclement weather, event management may decide to delay the fireworks show. Important updates will be communicated through City of Farmers Branch social media platforms and on the PA system. If it becomes necessary to evacuate the site then the Brookhaven College and the Farmers Branch Police Departments will instruct attendees to exit.

Personal vehicles and trucks that fit in a single, standard parking space are welcome. Oversized vehicles such as RVs and trailers are not permitted. Understand that some cars need to stay running to run the radio and air conditioning. Guests may keep their vehicle running if it does not contain an after market muffler, a diesel engine, headlights that stay on, or an unusually loud engine or fan.

First aid is available at the Information Tent located near the front entrance to the Brookhaven College Administration Building.

For the safety of attendees, participants and staff members, please be mindful of the following:

Masks are recommended for this event.
Be Symptom Aware – If you feel ill, have a fever or cough, please do not attend this event.
