SoFortWorthIt.com is proud to continue its goal of making every young lady feel like a prom princess by hosting the second annual prom dress drive, “Your Dress, Their Dream” on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023 in Fort Worth at The Shops at Clearfork. Led by SoFortWorthit.com Founder and local resident Christy Dunway Smith, this event is a public call for donations of new and gently used gowns and tuxedos, plus special occasion shoes, handbags, jewelry, and unopened makeup for donation to local DFW charities, including Prom Dreams Boutique at University Christian Church and We’re All About the Dress.
“There’s just something about a dress that makes you feel like a real-life Cinderella,” said Smith, SoFortWorthIt Founder and event organizer. “Every teen, no matter their financial situation, should have the opportunity to shine on a special day,” she continued.
“Your Dress, Their Dream” debuted in 2022 when Smith channeled her passions for couture into a DFW-wide opportunity for community-minded service. After only two weeks of planning, women from all over Fort Worth donated more than 350 gowns. Wishing to expand its inaugural success, Smith is inviting the public again to donate their glittering gowns for the second annual prom dress drive from 1-4 pm on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Into the Garden at the Shops at Clearfork, 5133 Marathon Ave. in Fort Worth. Sponsors for the event include Fort Worth Magazine, The Shops at Clearfork, Into the Garden, B&B Butchers, Forty Five Ten, The Reo Agency, Willow Creek Signs, Party Warehouse and Jan Simus Events.
Guests attending the donation drive can expect a grand affair as they walk through a spectacular balloon arch upon entering Into the Garden at the Shops at Clearfork. A live DJ will be spinning lively tunes and enjoy a brunch spread and libations courtesy of B&B Butchers. Guests without donations are also invited to attend by providing a financial contribution, so the charities may purchase needed items for the drive.
