Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year to celebrate being together with family and friends. But for some, the holiday season can bring struggles. Putting together a holiday meal can be laborious and expensive. Sometimes we just don’t have the time nor the finances to afford it.
There is no shame in asking for assistance during the holidays. For families needing a Thanksgiving meal, here are some local events and organizations to contact.

Thanksgiving Food Assistance
Charley Taylor Recreation Center :: Grand Prairie :: For Grand Prairie residents, register here to receive Thanksgiving items on Thursday, November 21 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Haltom Road Baptist :: Haltom City :: Register for a free community Thanksgiving meal on Sunday, November 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Inspired to Live Church :: Arlington :: Register here to attend the Feed Our Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, November 27 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Mission Arlington :: Arlington :: On Thanksgiving morning at 8:00 a.m., volunteers will deliver turkeys, hams, and other food items to the homes of more than 6,000 families. If you are needing a Thanksgiving meal delivered, call 817-277-6620. If you would like to donate to the turkey baskets, deliver needed items to Mission Arlington before November 28.
Operation Turkey :: Fort Worth :: Receive a turkey plate with stuffing and vegetables on Thanksgiving day between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Fill out the online form to request a meal. This organization also needs more volunteers to help deliver these meals.

SafeHaven’s Holiday Meals :: Arlington, Fort Worth :: Women and children in shelter receive a holiday meal the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving day, and the day after. Recipients must register by emailing Chelsea Derbyshire at [email protected]. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve meals to the women and children in shelter.
The Statler :: Dallas :: This Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, The Statler will host a free Thanksgiving feast for all active first responders, civil servants, active-duty military, and veterans, along with their immediate families from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) :: Arlington, Denton :: TAFB will host two mobile Thanksgiving distributions. The first will be at C.H. Collins athletic complex in Denton on Tuesday, November 19 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The second event will be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Thursday, November 21 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Drive up and get a family meal kit. TAFB offers meals at multiple locations throughout the week. Check the website to find your nearest location.

Taste Project :: Fort Worth :: Taste Community Restaurant will serve a Thanksgiving brunch on Thursday, November 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Pay what you can for this gourmet, seasonal meal complete with dessert and a kids menu. RSVPs are requested to mitigate food waste.

The Community Food Bank :: Fort Worth :: It offers food Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
HIM Food Bank :: Mansfield :: HIM Food Bank offers grocery appointments on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. You must fill out this application, bring a photo ID, and proof of income to the appointment. Online orders must be placed three days in advance.

Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County :: Fort Worth :: Request a meal to be delivered to your home.
The Salvation Army :: Tarrant County :: The Salvation Army has multiple locations around Tarrant County, and offers food at different locations throughout the week. In Fort Worth, food is distributed Wednesdays from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
