Take steps to teach kids about diversity. No matter the hue of your skin or the texture of you hair, these are conversations we need to have with each other — mother to mother. Those discussions can foster ideas that will impact our parenting, and that parenting will impact the future our children inherit. Special guests share their ideas while Emily and Beth also talk through how each is teaching diversity at home. Don’t hesitate to share your opinions and ideas too in the comments!

As mentioned in this episode, the following are the books Emily uses with her girls:

Emily also adores these skin-colored crayons and construction paper options too. Please do share other toys and such you’ve found for your family and/or class.

A big THANK YOU to the sponsor of this very important episode: The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This legendary event happens every winter, with this year’s dates being January 17 — February 8, 2020.

The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo brings thousands of families from near and far for its competition, daily rodeos, and family fun. With daily activities to keep your brood occupied, you may want to make it a regular stop from January 17 through February 8. Every day parents can take advantage of the animals on the grounds, either being shown or on display through a number of different venues. Plus, there is so much to do on the carnival and midway.

Original musical composition, “Play Time,” created by Jacob Tilton.
