Bella’s Book and Nature Club :: First Wednesday of the month at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Discuss nature, read a story, sing and move, plus enjoy a family nature challenge! For children ages 18 months – five years and their families.


 

Dallas Arboretum :: Yes, it’s winter, but temperatures fluctuate so much that $5 admission at the Arboretum could make for a great deal on the right day. Note: The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden will be closed January 1 – February 24 for preventative maintenance. 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily.


 

Dinosaurs Live! :: The Heard, Dallas. Dinosaur geology, dino trail hike, fossil dig, and more. From 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Closed Mondays. General admission is $9 – $12 Kids two and under are free.


 

Enrichment Programs :: Select days at River Legacy Science Center, Arlington. For kids ages five – 15.

Funopoly Reading Challenge :: Southlake Children’s Library, 1400 Main Street, Suite 130, Southlake 76092. Starting November 20 running through January 8, young readers (ages five – 14) are invited to play Funopoly at the Southlake Public Library where they can complete various reading challenges to earn tickets for prizes.

Nature School :: River Legacy Science Center, Arlington. Hands-on exploration of nature, indoor and outdoor activities, meaningful opportunities to develop math and science process skills. For kids ages three – five (not yet enrolled in kindergarten, and must be fully toilet trained).


 

Preschool Story Time :: Every Tuesday, 10:30 – 11:15 a.m., at East Regional Library. Stories, songs, and activities to build reading and school readiness skills, social and emotional skills, and community. Preschool Story Time is intended for children three – five years old and their grownups


 

Toddler Tuesdays :: Amon Carter Museum Fort Worth. First Tuesday of the month, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. For kids two and three years of age. Free event, but reservations required. 


 

The Trains at Northpark :: The miniature trains will be at Northpark through January 5. See the link for varying hours of operation, including holiday hours. Proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House. $10/adults, $5/children & seniors, kids under age two are free.


 

Story Time :: Every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m., Monkey and Dog Books in Fort Worth.


 

Spanish Light Art Exhibit :: Meadows Museum, Dallas. Through January 7, 2024, the “Spanish Light: Sorolla in American Collections” collection will be on exhibit at the museum. Tickets are $12 per adult; children and teens (18 years and under) are free.

LightScape :: Fort Worth Botanic Garden. A holiday light festival for the whole family to enjoy! Tickets start at $11 per person for members, $23 per person for non-members. January 1 is the last day of this event.

First Thursday Sketching Tour :: Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth. From 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Students must be in grades kindergarten – 8th to participate. Parents and guardians are invited to explore the collection, enjoy free Wi-Fi, and visit the free Studio A play space with younger siblings during the program.

Art for Kids :: Southlake Town Hall, Third Floor, 1400 Main Street, Southlake 76092. Join Riya Shah, a sophomore at Carroll High, as she guides children in crafting adorable clay creatures. Best for ages six and older.  

New Year’s Party at The LOT :: The LOT Downtown, 110 South Main Street, Mansfield 76063. Come dressed up in your New Year’s best, get your picture taken with Rudolph and Clarice, enjoy interactive activities, entertainment and countdown to the big balloon drop! Food vendors will be on site. Event is FREE!

Family Tree Hike :: River Legacy Nature Center, Arlington. From 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. FREE family-friendly hike. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. All participants over five years of age must register. Each child/family must have at least one adult attending and registered for the program. Children must be supervised by the adult they came with.
