football, girls flag football Fort WorthFort Worth Moms partnered with Future For Football to learn more about how football is evolving for students in the Fort Worth area. Coach Christopher Murry is the head coach of the Lady Cougar flag football team at Western Hills High School. He chatted with Emily from Fort Worth Moms and answered all her questions about this relatively new all-female varsity league in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD).

They discuss how the league came to be (hint: the female voice was heard!), how team sports benefit students, and why more inclusivity and options in football are good for the sport as a whole and for the local community. Coach Murry says the FWISD female flag football league — the first of its kind in Texas, state of the Friday night lights — “lets the world know that girls can play football too.”

Also mentioned (and is our challenge to you): SUPPORT this FWISD female flag football league. Coach Murry revealed that they need financial support from community sponsors to offset the costs for equipment, etc. These girls also need fans in the seats to cheer them on!

The future of football is happening right here in Fort Worth!
