We don’t know about you, but our goal this holiday season is NOT to be a Grinch! Despite the icy road 2020 has been, Fort Worth Moms is determined to help you find safe and festive events, both in person and virtual, that you can enjoy with your kids.

On-Going Virtual Events

Virtual Story Times // North Richland Hills Library hosts virtual story times every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. on its Facebook page. After the reading, the video will be available on its YouTube channel and the library’s website

Yogin’s Karma Bookclub // Karma Yoga in Denton is starting a free community yoga bookclub to learn more about the practice of yoga and how to transform our lives off the mat and see how the words impact not only us but our fellow yogis. Learn more HERE.

KERA At-Home Learning // At kera.org/learn, parents, teachers, and caregivers will find services they can use to “turn every home into a classroom.” They’ll also find an educational TV schedule, digital media collections, and curated tips and tools for teachers.

Museum and Zoo Virtual Tours // Scroll through this list of iconic museums and zoos around the world, and take a tour without leaving your home!

Virtual Nurturing Parent Group // Hosted by My Health My Resources of Tarrant County, the virtual nurturing parent group is “a family-centered trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to other forms of parenting and child-rearing practices. This is a great group for any and all parents wanting to learn about parenting for any child.” Meetings happen every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Learn more here.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame // Need activities to keep your young cowgirls and cowboys busy? Take advantage of this free online resources and activities!

Royally Fun Parties // Book an online party to connect a birthday girl with her friends and her favorite character, or have a princess give your little one a call to brighten her day! Virtual services include phone calls, video calls, video messages, and virtual parties. 

Storyline Online // Storyline Online streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White, and dozens more. Visit Storyline Online for more information.  

The Kimbell Art Museum’s Kimbell At Home program // Experience the Kimbell from Home. Explore the collection, download family art activities, and take an audio tour.

Virtual Wednesday Walks // Join the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge for a virtual walk on the trails. Every Wednesday, it will pick a trail, hike, and see what is along the trail in the form of plants and animals. This is a great way to catch up and for you to see what is available on the trails. It will continue these virtual walks while it is closed for the public. Hike starts at 10:00 a.m. and the end time is not definitive. Typical hike will be an hour at the most. December 1 – January 18, 2021 {In-person}

Panther Island Ice // Panther Island Ice returns this holiday season. Located at the Coyote Drive-In, Fort Worth’s outdoor skating rink offers public skating starting on November 20, 2020. The ice rink will operate seven days a week through January 18, 2021, including all holidays. The rink is real ice located mostly under a large pavilion.

December 2 {In-person}

Point ‘Em West Trail Drive // Cowboys from the legendary Four Sixes Ranch are coming to Cowtown to commemorate the inaugural cattle drive held on June 13, 1999 when they rode for their brand to deliver the herd to the city. 

December 4 – 27 {Virtual}

A Christmas Carol // A highly inventive, digital adaptation of the Dickens classic, pared down to its essential elements. A resident company of actors assemble online to perform a new production of the heartwarming Christmas story. With everyone performing from home, creating a magical world of holiday make-believe is no easy feat. The socially distanced troupe brings this holiday classic to imaginative new heights. December 5 {In-person}

Home Depot Kids Workshop // Set out on an adventure with your child in this binoculars workshop. Kids develop hands-on skills by gluing, hammering and more. With help from parents and store associates, your child will create a pair of binoculars to take home. All kids workshop attendees must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. Free admission.

Christmas Ornament Decorating Paint & Play // Hosted by Play Street Museum, kiddos can choose a Christmas ornament to paint. These pottery pieces make perfect holiday gifts. $19 per child.

Meet Marvel Comics Venom Cover Artist Sam de la Rosa // Sam de la Rosa has finished art on various Spider-Man titles, Venom Lethal Protector, Venom Separation Anxiety, Captain America, Black Panther, Squadron Supreme, Iron Man, What-If, Dr. Strange, Daredevil, The Thing, Spider Woman, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and others. Admission to the event is free but price will vary on autographs and art work.

December 8 & 18 {In-person}

Gingerbread House Decorating Party // Join Play Street Museum Fort Worth on Tuesday, December 8 and Friday, December 18 for a gingerbread decorating party! Kiddos will have a blast decorating a gingerbread house with icing and tons and tons of candy, cereals, pretzels, and sprinkles! Each child can also decorate a gingerbread sugar cookie to enjoy during the party. $25 per child.

December 10 {Drive-through}

Winter Wonderland Drive-Through Literacy Night // Attend Oakmont Elementary’s inaugural Drive-Through Literacy Night. Pick up free books, crafts, and treats! Vote on your favorite teacher costume.

December 12 {In-person}

Holiday in the Garden // Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Fort Worth Botanical Research Center is hosting a six-event collaboration, including its holiday sip & shop, holiday tea, Santa in the garden, Christmas tree farm, opera in the Garden and a free afternoon in the garden. There will be several vendors, delicious bites from local food trucks, and a variety of winter beverages. Learn more here.

December 19 {In-person}

MEGA Adoption Event // The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) and the City of Fort Worth are coming together to find homes for more than 500 pets! This two-day MEGA adoption event features dogs, cats, and other small furry pets. $10 adoption fee includes spay/neutering, microchipping, rabies and core vaccinations, and 30 days of pet insurance. Located in Barn 1 of the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Masks are required along with social distancing.

December 20 {In-person}

Jingle All the Way: A Family Holiday Concert // Jingle all the way to Casa for your favorite holiday tunes with your favorite holiday performers! You’ll hear songs like Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, and many, many more! During the show, craft an ornament to take home for your tree, and don’t forget to order extra marshmallows for your hot chocolate! An appearance by the jolliest elf of all, Santa Claus, wraps up the concert. Craft materials are included with ticket purchase. Drinks are served tableside and are not included in the price of the ticket.

December 26 {In-person}

Food Truck Saturday // Order food from your car and drive through millions of lights at Texas Motor Speedway. Order tickets at www.giftoflightstexas.com
