Green Space Nature Preschool is a full or part-time program, offering two-, three-, or five-day preschool and outdoor kindergarten. At Green Space Nature Preschool, its mission is to provide a learning environment that is structured around nature play. Children who play outside thrive and show improved outcomes across developmental domains. The school respects early childhood as a valuable period in its own right and creates space for development to unfold naturally, rather than rushing on to the next milestone.
A child-guided curriculum allows your child to explore his or her own interests and ideas, create individual plans and projects, and develop confidence in him or herself and respect for the natural world. Preschoolers and kindergarteners spend the day engaged in child-led learning, with the majority of the day spent outdoors. Its approach is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy – it is student-centered and constructivist, emphasizing self-directed, experiential learning in relationship-driven environments. The preschool’s early childhood experts have seen the positive impact of high-quality nature play and are committed to creating these opportunities for children to thrive at Green Space Nature Preschool.

River Legacy Nature School provides an environment that encourages a child’s inborn sense of wonder and curiosity to flourish! Indoor and outdoor explorations at River Legacy Living Science Center introduce children to the natural world and the wildlife and plant life found within it.
Children ages three to five and six (not yet enrolled in kindergarten) attend class once weekly for 30 weeks, September through May. Twice a week classes available for four year olds. Every session includes a trip into the woods, weather permitting, where classroom lessons come to life. Balanced curriculum encourages a hands-on, minds-on exploration of nature, enhanced through music, art, literature, and dramatic play. Ratio of two highly qualified teachers for every nine to 12 children guarantees personal attention.
Three year olds focus on River Legacy Park’s animal and plant life, exploring what they need to survive. Opportunities to encounter ladybugs and snails, earthworms and opossums, native wildflowers, and so much more build understanding of nature’s diverse life forms.
Four, five, and six year olds (not yet enrolled in kindergarten) turn their attention to River Legacy Park’s habitats and how they meet the needs of creatures that live there. Among the units of study are The Living Tree, The Forest Floor, The Decaying Log, and The Creek.
