Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio
Saturdays

Kids ages 12 and younger (plus adult companions) can visit the museum on Saturdays for special gallery explorations and related studio-art projects. This month’s theme is “We Heart Art.” 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Free!


Mesmerica

A one-hour immersive experience in the planetarium at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History that brings mesmerizing music together with hypnotic 3-D animation from artists around the world. More details at the link. Tickets from $12.

A Knight’s Tale

The current special exhibit at the Arlington Museum of Art features a collection of rare objects including full suits of armor, mounted equestrian figures, helmets, swords, and other weaponry, telling the tale of the European knight from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Tickets $5 – $20.


February 3
Father-Daughter Dance

Tonight is the second-ever Father-Daughter Dance at the Fort Worth Zoo. Enjoy light refreshments, a meet-and-greet with the zoo’s outreach animals, dance games, photo ops, and more. Tickets $85 per pair, $25 for each additional daughter, $35 for each additional father figure.

Heroes at the Symphony

Celebrate the most memorable musical themes of heroes and heroines with at this Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra family concert. Hear all your favorites from blockbusters like The Avengers, Star Wars, and more. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. for lobby activities. Showtime at 11:00 a.m. Tickets from $11.

Neon Nights 1980s Family Dance

The BRiCk in Burleson will host an early evening family dance — and you need to get in costume for it! Tickets include dinner, dancing, games, and entertainment. 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. $10 per person.

Saturday Story Time

Head to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden for a short children’s program and get a sheet of activities to try in the garden or at home. Designed for ages 18 months to five years, but all are invited to join. 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Included with garden admission.

Toddler Studio: Playing Out Loud

A fun-filled morning of toddler-friendly sensory fun at the Amon Carter with drums, shakers, and tambourines. Designed for kids ages two to three. 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Free! Reservations required.

Black History Month with the Amon Carter

A community teacher from the museum will be at the Ridglea branch of the Fort Worth Library to engage teens in a discussion about past and contemporary artworks by Black Americans. Kids will also have the opportunity to create their own works of art. The program is designed for 6th – 12th graders. 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Free!

Nature Adventurers: Frogs

The Nature Adventurers program at River Legacy Living Science Center in Arlington is designed for children ages two and a half to five years old. Visit this morning for hands-on learning opportunities led by experienced teachers on the subject of frogs! 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. $20 for one child/adult pair. $5 for one additional child.

Girl’s Nature Workshop: Kitchen Scrap Gardening

This workshop at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden is designed for Girl Scout badge purposes, but any gal aged seven to 12 is welcome! It covers how to grow delicious vegetables from kitchen scraps, plant propagation, and making eco-friendly art. 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. $10 per participant, including adults. Register by February 8.

Kid’s Fishing Day

Kids ages 16 and under are invited to Mike Lewis Pond in Grand Prairie today for trout fishing. The pond will be stocked, and a limited number of loaner rods and reels will be available. See more details at the link. 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Free!

Cross Timbers Nature Club

This is popular, so sign up early! Cross Timbers Nature Club in Southlake is for young naturalists ages five to 11. Once a month, kids can explore the trails, study local wildlife, and learn how to become stewards of the land. This month’s focus is on squirrels and how they do a great job braving the winter weather 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. $13 for residents, $16 for non-residents.

The Play That Goes Wrong

If you have teens, consider this production at Stage West Theatre in Fort Worth. It’s a madcap, meta play about the opening night of a murder mystery play. Tickets $20 – $45.

Carter Playdate: Music Factory

Read Boogie Boogie, Y’all by C.G. Esperanza, play gallery games, and make your own instruments inspired by Carter artworks. For kids ages three to five and their families. 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Free! Reservations required.

Itty-Bitty Art: Shake, Shake, Shake!

Spend quality time with your infant at the Amon Carter — sing, play, and shake your tail feathers with infant-friendly sensory activities. Designed for kids ages 24 months and younger. 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Free! Reservations required.

Little Sprouts Book and Garden Club

Kids ages 18 months to five years are invited to join Carlos the Cactus at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden each month to discover nature, read a story, sing and move, and do a family nature challenge. 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Free for members, $10 for non-members. Register by February 16.

Celebrate National Engineers Week at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History with real engineers and special activities and projects for all ages. Included with admission.
