April 23 – May 8 // The Descendants // Casa Mañana // This show is based on the popular Disney Channel movies, Descendants. It is a brand-new musical comedy featuring the beloved characters and hit songs from the films.

May 3 // Pictures and Pages // Kimbell Art Museum // Head to YouTube for this virtual reading of Eyes that Speak to the Stars, by  Joanna Ho and illustrated by  Dung Ho. Story time is presented in English and Spanish.

May 4 // The British Invasion // Bass Performance Hall // This event will showcase the music of the “British Invasion” and how it impacted art, fashion, literature, changing the very essence of pop culture and redirecting history. Featuring an all-live band with huge projection period photos along with original film footage, the show will focus on British music that dominated the charts and the airwaves with bands such as Manfred Mann, The Searchers, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Zombies, Freddie & The Dreamers, and Herman’s Hermits along with dozens more.

May 5-8 // Mayfest // Mayfest is a huge party in Fort Worth! It’s four days of live music, festival food, carnival rides, performing arts, pet adoptions, more than 60 art and gift market vendors, free children’s activities, and special attractions.

May 6 // Grief Talk Activities Workshop // The Warm Place // The WARM Place is excited to offer a FREE Grief Talk: Activities Workshop for school counselors, teachers, and administrators who want to learn some helpful activities and strategies to best support grieving children.

May 6 – 8 // Troupe Vertigo – Cirque Carnaval // Bass Performance Hall // Troupe Vertigo fuses cirque acrobatics, classical dance and contemporary theater to create a spellbinding show for the ages centered on the power of expressive movement. The show features world-class aerial artists, contortionists, and ballet dancers. It is partnering with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

May 7 // Fishing Seminar for Kids // Fort Worth Zoo // Kids will learn the basics of fishing and some secrets from experienced fisherman for your own adventure at your favorite fishing hole. For kids ages six to 16.

May 7 // Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio // Kimbell Art Museum //The free program this week focuses on watercolors. It introduces children (ages 12 and younger) to fun and inspiring ways to enjoy art through gallery explorations and related studio-art projects. 

May 7 // Spring Market // Fort Worth Botanic Garden // Enjoy spring weather at the Garden while shopping the wares of local artisan vendors and enjoying live music and family-friendly activities. 

May 8 // Mother’s Day Brunch // Fort Worth Zoo // Go wild at brunch for mom! The brunch includes a meet-and-greet with the zoo’s outreach animals, giraffe feeding experience, and all-day admission. Check website for ticket pricing.

May 12 // Women United Annual Luncheon // United Way of Tarrant County // Join United Way of Tarrant County as it works to improve the lives of those in need at this annual luncheon. 

May 12 // Taste of Parker County // Mark your calendars for the 12th annual Taste of Parker County benefiting the Weatherford College Foundation. Food vendors include Antebellum Ale House, Auntie Anne’s Food Trailer, Downtown Cantina, and Yesterday’s Sandwich Shop. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the gate. 

May 13 // Movies in the Park: Luca // Weatherford Parks and Recreation // Attend this free showing of the popular Disney movie Luca! Arrive early to grab some delicious food from one of the vendors and to bring a blanket/lawn chair.

May 14 // Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio // Kimbell Art Museum //The free program this week focuses on watercolors. It introduces children (ages 12 and younger) to fun and inspiring ways to enjoy art through gallery explorations and related studio-art projects. 

May 14 // Arlington Impact // Women’s Football Alliance // Root for this women’s tackle football team as they take on the Cali War. 

May 16-18 // Festival of the Kid // Stage West // Festival of the Kid produces the winning entries from Stage West’s annual Neighborhood Play Contest every spring. The pieces are written by K-12 students, performed by area teens, and directed by seasoned theatre professionals.

May 20 // Beastro // Fort Worth Zoo // Beastro is Fort Worth Zoo’s annual music and tasting event that supports its local and international wildlife conservation and education efforts. It features the finest area restaurants stationed throughout the Zoo, serving sample appetizers, entrees and desserts. There is live music entertainment and open bars throughout the park. Several animal habitats remain open until sunset. 

May 21 // Arlington Impact // Women’s Football Alliance // Root for this women’s tackle football team as they take on the Houston Power. 

May 21-22 // Dog Days // Fort Worth Botanic Garden // Enjoy two full days of hanging out with your dog in the garden. Dog Days will be held during regular hours, with regular admission for humans and an additional $5 per dog. Hydration stations for dogs will be provided by the Garden across campus. FWBG|BRIT members receive free admission and pay $5 per dog — with complimentary bandana(s).

It includes on-course contests, multiple raffles, a swag bag, lunch, on-course beverages, plus live entertainment and bites at the 19th hole celebration and awards!

May 28 // Creature Features: Ornate Box Turtles // River Legacy Living Science Center // Attend the outdoor return of Creature Features to River Legacy Living Science Center! Get to know Winston and Digger, two ornate box turtles and learn about their adaptations, behavior, and lifestyle.
