This is a significant episode. Yes, the topic is solid and the guest is wonderful. In addition to these worthy characteristics . . . this is a notable episode because it is the first one we recorded remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic. Like many of you, our city and state issued “stay-at-home” orders, and we found creative ways to make it work while juggling jobs and our families. The sound of this episode is different because of those changes, but we are really thankful for the technology that allows us to continue podcasting. And what a time capsule of the challenges and victories during quarantine!

measuring tapeEpisode 21 finds Beth and Emily chatting about childhood milestones — ones their kids missed, how they handled it, and what they did and didn’t stress about. Also, joining Momfessions Podcast is Laura Kender, chief of early childhood services at My Health My Resources Tarrant County (MHMR). She lends her expertise on the subject of missing milestones and shares how MHMR continues to help parents and kiddos during the pandemic.

During the episode, Laura shared resources from the CDC and Zero to Three about brain development and childhood milestones. The MHMR program, Help Me Grow North Texas, is also mentioned during their discussion about missing milestones. Help Me Grown North Texas links families to child development information and programs based on the needs of that family as a whole, often before focusing on the specific developmental needs of the child. The Help Me Grow North Texas website offers child development resources, activities, and links to free screenings. Visit HelpMeGrowNorthTexas.org or 844-NTX-KIDS for more information.

Original musical composition, “Play Time,” created by Jacob Tilton.
