I think we’re all ready to loosen the social-distancing reigns a bit and start celebrating with our friends and loved ones together. The month of June is the perfect time to celebrate togetherness because it’s also Pride Month!
Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ community, an ally, or a believer that love is love, there are a handful of upcoming events that will be celebratory, supportive, and, most of all, fun! Grab your family, flags, and festive attire and check out these upcoming events.
June 2 – 4 // Colour Me Queer at the Dallas Urban Arts Center // This festival will feature seven works that showcase the diversity of the LGBTQ community. The event is presented by the Blaque Artists Collective, a group recognized by the City of Dallas office of Arts and Culture for its contribution to the cultural community.
June 4 // Carrollton Pride Day – A Celebration of Diversity // Held at the Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, the city of Carrollton’s is celebrating LGBTQ Pride. Though the event is centralized at the church, the organizers consider it a “city-wide” event, as several local business are invited to be a part of the festivities. There will be several food and vendor booths for your family to enjoy.
June 4 – 5 // Dallas Pride at Fair Park // Dallas’ 39th annual Pride celebration will be a two-day event the first weekend in June. Traditionally, the festival happens all day Saturday, and the parade is on Sunday. Festival hours are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is $10 ages 20+, $5 ages 13 to 19, children 12 and younger are free. There will be music, entertainment, art, food, exhibits, and more than 200 vendors! In the Automobile Building, kids can enjoy a family pride zone, including bounce houses, face painting, the Pride Train, and entertainment. There will also be a Teen Zone with live music and entertainment for LGBTQ teens and allies. The Dallas Pride Music Festival in the Park will begin in the evening hours.
June 18 // LGBTQ Saves Youth Pride Picnic at Trinity Park // Join from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as younger members of the LGBTQ community are invited to a picnic in the park! The organization welcomes people age 24 and younger to bring friends and family to a free cookout. You can find the picnic at 2401 University Drive. Grab a hamburger or hotdog and play some games!
June 25 // Dallas Wings Pride Night Game at College Park Center // Sports fans and WNBA enthusiasts can come to the College Park Center in Arlington to see the Dallas Wings take on the Phoenix Mercury for the Association’s Pride Game Night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Besides the basketball game, there will be themed entertainment and fun for the whole family. June 25 // Trinity Pride Fest on the Magnolia Green // This celebration of love is Fort Worth’s annual Pride event. The event is family and pet friendly, and totally casual — bring your own blanket or camping chairs and enjoy the festivities! You can enjoy live music, lawn games, and an artisan market. Multiple food trucks will line the park. No outside food allowed. Don’t forget to check out tables for local LGBTQ organizations to see how you can help make our city more inclusive. October 1 – 9 // Tarrant County Pride Week // This event has chosen to reschedule the usual Pride 2021 events and its 40th celebration to October 2022. Check the link for more details!
Not really into the local festivities and looking more for information, understanding, or support, particularly for a child or younger family member who’s part of the community?
