FREE (or Almost Free) Summer Fun for Families in the Fort Worth Area

We all have a summer budget, especially with rising prices! Here are some pocket-friendly activities (or free) to help burn your kiddo’s energy.

Activities/Fitness

Kids Bowl Free :: Kids get two free games of bowling each day during the summer at participating locations. Register to see the locations closest to you. You can purchase a family pass for a one-time fee that is good for up to four adults.

Kids Skate Free :: Kids receive two passes each week to skate for free. Does not include skate rentals. 

Planet Fitness :: Free gym membership for teens ages 14 to 19 through August 31.

Sigma Swim School/Drowning Prevention :: Sigma is offering free lessons for kids between the ages of three through 10 years old. Multiple locations are available in the DFW metroplex with 10 locations in Fort Worth. Sigma offers four lessons a week and each child is eligible for one free week a year. 

Take advantage of swimming and water deals this summer.

Movies

Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse :: Eight weeks of kid-friendly movies for $1.50 tickets. 

Movie Tavern Kids Dream :: Family Film Series 2022 :: $3 admission from June 5 to September 1. There is also a promotion for two complimentary tickets on their website.

Regal Summer Movie Express :: $2 movie tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesday for the Summer Movie Express promotion. 

Studio Movie Grill Children’s Summer Series :: From May 30 to August 1, SMG offers $6 tickets that includes a popcorn and drink. 

Crafts/Reading

Amon Carter Museum of American Art :: Offers free admissions for all! 

Dallas Holocaust and Humans Right Museum :: SNAP recipients receive discounted tickets of $3 for up to four people. Bank of America cardholders and employees along with Merrill Lynch employees receive free admission on the first weekend of every month.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden :: SNAP and WIC recipients receive free admission. During May 21 to September 5, military members receive free admission. The Fort Worth Library cardholders can check out a free pass for admission to the Botanic Garden. The pass admits two adults and children under 17 years old. 

Fort Worth Public Library :: 2022 Mayor’s Summer Reading Program is underway. Register online or in person at your local library. Prizes are earned! 

Fort Worth Public Library :: Check out your local library for special events and lessons. Library cards are free for Fort Worth residents. 

Fort Worth Zoo :: Offers half-price tickets every Wednesday. 

Home Depot :: Free craft/building workshops for kids every first Saturday of the month. Register in advance to save a spot. 

Kimbell Art Museum :: Offers discounted tickets for active-duty members and teachers with a promotion of $2 off each ticket. SNAP recipients receive $3 special exhibition admissions.

Log Cabin Village :: As a participating museum of Museums for All, Log Cabin Village offers $2.50 admission for SNAP and WIC recipients for up to four people.

Lowes :: Offers a free kid’s workshop once a month. 

Michaels Kids Camp :: Free crafting activities this summer. Register for the event on the website or follow along at home.

Museums The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History :: Offers discounted tickets. If you’re a SNAP, WIC or Medicaid recipient, you and three others can receive a $3 admission ticket. During May 21 to September 5, those in the armed forces can receive free admission for themselves and an additional five family members. 

Nasher Sculpture Center :: Free admission for first responders, military, SNAP recipients, and children under 12 years old. Every first Saturday of the month, admission is free from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., along with every third Friday of the month 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. 

Perot Museum of Nature and Science :: $1 admission tickets for WIC, SNAP, Medicaid, CHIP, SSI recipients, and up to seven family members. Educators receive free admission along with military and first responders. 

Stockyards Museum :: A participant of the Blue Star Museums program. Military members receive free admissions. 

Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame :: Veterans receive free admission.

Dickey’s Barbeque Pit :: Kids eat free every Sunday with a minimum purchase of $12. 

Fort Worth ISD :: Offers free breakfast and lunch for all students. 

Luby’s :: Free kids’ meal with a purchase of an adult meal every Wednesday and Saturday. 

Pizza Hut Camp BOOK IT :: Set reading goals for your children and once goals are met, they earn a free personal pizza.
