Parenting

Being a parent is a huge privilege and a demanding role, all tied up in one. The category of Parenting features articles to encourage and equip parents in every season and from every walk of life –from mom of teens and toddlers to working and stay-at-home moms — as well as tips, hacks, inspiration, and resources in Fort Worth that every parent needs to know about.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular post or collection of posts represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

My kiddo was very upset when he learned he needed braces. Being so young, most kids his age didn't have them. We were upfront beforehand about what having braces meant -- like not eating some of his favorite foods for awhile. But I wish I'd known the emotional toll this news might take, as I would have given him more time to process it before the appointment.
I'm sure when you were a little girl and dreamed of becoming a mom, I wasn't exactly what you pictured. You didn't carry me or birth me, but you raised me and taught me how to be a wife and a mother. And most important, you loved me and were just the mom I needed and wanted.
We all face different challenges each day. As a mother we want to shield our children from the bad obstacles, but I am here to say that we need to let our children fail. I want my daughter to fail because if I don't let her fail then I'm not trying.

Hey Mama, Take Your Time

He took time to admire the sky. "Airplane, Mommy, Airplane," he said. In this moment nothing else mattered. It took me away from of all of thoughts of "what if." Do I have dinner ready? What about the ants? What about the ground being too warm? Never mind all that.
This guide features swim lesson options all across Tarrant County to help local families learn how to swim, improve water safety skills, and perfect those strokes.
When a natural consequence isn’t readily available, my husband and I do our best to create a response that has clear ties to the action.
What is the difference between discipline and abuse, between healthy attachment and coerced or secretive relationships? That's a question, in my opinion, that every parent needs to know the answer to.
