Pregnancy + Birth

Pregnancy and the birth of a new baby are some of the sweetest – and sometimes most challenging – seasons of a women’s life. The category of Pregnancy + Birth features articles to help you every step of the way — trimester tips, baby shower inspo, etc. — as well as how to find an OBGYN, where to connect with local support groups, helpful books to read, the best birth options in Fort Worth, and more!

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every blog post published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular post or collection of posts represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

On the day I found out I was pregnant with this baby, I told my husband quietly, as if saying it out loud might cause something bad to happen. We didn't cry and laugh like we did with our first. In a follow-up appointment after my third C-section, my OB/GYN asked how I was doing. I gave the generic answer that I was healing well. She remembered my reaction from that first talk about this pregnancy. She gently told me that I was no less of a mom, that my scar was the first of many sacrifices of motherhood.

I’m not sure why I’m so nervous to become a mother to a girl. I wasn’t nearly as nervous having our son and definitely wasn’t worried about what I would say to him. Maybe that's because I thought my...
