Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

This model of school gives us the great gift of spending more time together as a family. My kids still get a classroom experience where they work with others and learn from an experienced teacher, but they also get even more time working with our family.
Because the Montessori community is cooperative and respectful, this atmosphere helped them practice open communication with others, understand that there are multiple ideas and perspectives to consider, and that science is evolving and dynamic. There is always more to learn, new goals to strive for, and we are in a constant state of growing.
We are all doing our best, no matter what type of schooling is best for your family. I am excited for all of the schooling options that are now available. Homeschool groups, homeschool co-ops (where you can take single classes), partial-week schools, and democratic schools are just a few alternatives.
Kids attend a Catholic school, which is a parochial school option.

Picking Parochial

When I’ve taken our kids places in their uniforms after school around our area, people know the school and are always so lovely and polite to my boys, asking them questions about the school and talking about what they know about it.
To find a school that combined the principles of classical education, with the convenience of being a tuition-free public school was a dream come true for my family!
From the beginning, our philosophy has been to consider all options every year for each of our three children, according to particular needs at that time. All three have gone through our district’s public school since kindergarten.
Navigating the 504 process can be tricky, but your school counselor should be able to guide you through it seamlessly. If you, as a parent, ever feel like the 504 plan is not being followed, please contact your school counselor or administrator to let him or her know.
