Education

Education. As a mother, it’s almost safe to say there is nothing more important in raising a child. The education category is intended to be a resource for mothers, whether your kiddos are in preschool, kindergarten, elementary, or high school. Topics range from parent-teacher gifts to STAAR testing, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every article published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular article or collection of articles represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

Allow yourself a predetermined schedule that creates time for play, homework, snack, dinner, and some much-needed mom time.
They learned to walk and talk and they pick up things from their environment, whether we like it or not. Instead of us telling them what to learn, we ask them what they want to learn, provide opportunities for them to do so, and get out of the way.
Our Montessori goal is not to accomplish x,y, and z goals before other kids or to make sure we are perfect all the time, but to foster his own interest, ideas and desires from an early age.
As it stands, I work from home and my husband is a stay at home dad. We had choices, and we had a body to care for the kids. We were, in short, very lucky.
I hoped to have the freedom of homeschool without the need to come up with my own curriculum. But when I received the schedule, I was devasted.
To say the learning process was seamless would be a farce; while I don’t believe virtual learning can replace in person learning, the socialization, and workload for the teachers, I do think it’s something to be strongly considered point forward.
Benefits to this model that we have seen include extra help with teaching kids at different levels, grading is completed and returned to the student quickly, and teachers get more breaks throughout the day because they can share the workload. The downside is that your child will fall in love with two teachers instead of one.
