Relationships

Ah, relationships: both the bitter and sweet of life, am I right? The category of Relationships features articles to guide you through every relationship of life — the difficult and delightful  — as well as how to navigate relationships with in-laws, grandparents, friendships, marriage, ex-spouses, kids, teens, and more.

Fort Worth Moms publishes original, personal stories and advice from local moms, as well as relevant and fun information for those of us in the trenches of parenthood.

Every blog post published via Fort Worth Moms — whether someone from our in-house team, a guest writer, or a sponsored writer — uses their words to reflect their own opinions, experiences, and beliefs. No singular post or collection of posts represents the opinions, beliefs, or agenda of Fort Worth Moms.

If your dad wasn't your first love or your house was unsafe, you're not alone. And choosing a spouse or partner the total opposite of your toxic parent(s) was a wise decision. You CAN be the end of the line of angry people. Their story doesn't have to be yours, and your story doesn't have to be your child's. You don't have to carry your parents' baggage anymore.
We are teaching our daughter that we trust her, that we understand she is maturing, and that some lessons she needs to figure out on her own. But no matter what happens with this relationship or future relationships, we will be there for her every step of the way.
My father was always more affectionate than my mother growing up. He offered more hugs, more laughs, and showed us that having feelings was okay.
